Program Information - Year 1

High School Credits: 6 credits per year
Dual Credits : Vincennes University Early College: up to 3 credit hours
Offered: AM and PM sessions
Industry Certifications (National) Available: OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certification

Description:

Construction Equipment Operator I is an exciting program with both classroom and hands-on learning. Students learn about the basic safety, operation and maintenance of heavy equipment used in the construction industry. Students practice various equipment operation processes used in excavation. Students also gain knowledge in the construction field and practice accurate and precise measuring skills for structure layout and develop an understanding for surveying. They also learn how to read blueprints and other skills for job site communication such as hand signals. Welding is incorporated in this program during the winter months. Students learn basic welding techniques then apply them to complete hands-on projects. This CTE program gives students an excellent introduction to careers in construction equipment operation and welding.

Description:

Construction Equipment Operator II is the second year of the CEO program and builds upon the foundation of skills and knowledge acquired in year one. Equipment operation and its function, surveying, using blueprints and welding are an integral part of the curriculum. Students are encouraged to participate in an internship in order to gain more on-the-job training and experience.
