Area 30 News and Updates

July 15, 2020

Dear Parents and Students

We are sharing the following information in preparation of the return of our students and staff for the 2020-2021 school year.  It will be critical that our families monitor the health of students and only send them to school if they are well and symptom free. We will begin school on our scheduled date of August 10.

We will:

  • Greet students on their bus the first day of school and have staff escort them to their classrooms. All students and staff will be required to wear masks when entering the building.
  • Have face masks available for staff and students.
  • Require students and staff to wear a mask when social distancing is not possible. This may change as new guidance is received.
  • Require untested students and staff  who experience symptoms of COVID-19 to be out of school for 10 days, fever free for 72 hours, and free of any other related symptoms prior to returning to school
  • Maximize instructional space, scheduling flexibility, and limit movement as appropriate to provide greater social distancing opportunities as often as possible.
  • Employ enhanced cleaning procedures throughout school buildings, buses, and facilities.
  • Provide multiple hand sanitizing stations and increase opportunities for hand sanitizer use and hand washing throughout the school day.
  • Close water fountains but utilize bottle fill stations. We will encourage students to bring water from home each day.
  • Provide each student with a water bottle
  • Provide lunches in a larger space or in a classroom setting with peers.
  • Identify and create a separate space within the school for students displaying symptoms.
  • Evaluate field trips on a case by case basis.
  • Restrict visitors and guests in the building.
  • Discontinue the use of perfect attendance incentives
  • Not offer online options. Area 30 must adhere to the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet CTE standards, this means that in-person training and laboratory experiences are required as a part of the curriculum.

Area 30 Career Center will continue to work with our five member school corporations and the Putnam County Health Department to respond to confirmed cases of COVID-19.There will be adjustments in guidance as new information is received from federal, state and local authorities. We will share updates on this guidance through our social media accounts, the Area 30 website and via school messenger. You will be able to register for school messenger during registration days of Thursday, July 30, 9:00- 2:00pm and Tuesday, August 4 2:30pm -6:30pm. We will use this notification system for important information related to Area 30 Career Center and COVID-19.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have about your student’s enrollment at Area 30. We look forward to the start of the new school year!
